A Tribute to Futoshi

I named this page ‘A Tribute to Futoshi’ but actually this page is about ‘A Craziness over Futoshi’; but word ‘craziness’ is far too long for the title so I just use word ‘tribute’… Maybe it should be named ‘An Insane Tribute to Futoshi’ instead??

Formerly I decided to put these craps on some posts. But then I thought, “Hey, why I don’t just put this all on one page? So people won’t have to open different posts if they want to lay a critic over this topic.” Yeah, I just use my freedom-of-posting-my-opinion; but feel free to give comment/correcting/complain about this page; you could see the comment box below the bottom of the page.

Yeah, soo…

If you love a band, I’m sure it’s because you have at least one of these reasons below:
1. You love the music (eventhough you don’t understand/only understand a bit what the hell the song means),
2. You love the lyric,
3. You love the way the band brings the song,
4. You love all of the band member ,
5. You love one of the band’s member (except the vocalist),
6. You love the vocalist (the voice, the way he sings, etc),
7. You’re just a kind of band-lover who loves almost every band you know, without any specific reason.

So, my reasons are number 1 and number 6; but maybe you’ve already known that I’m translating Aqua Timez’s songs and oh hell I so love what Futoshi wrote so yeah let’s add the reason number 2.

Yeah, Futoshi (I just don’t know his full name; damn!) is the vocalist of Aqua Timez. He’s also the composer. He’s the youngest member of the band, and also the shortest .

(I don’t care about this though. Being short is not his weak point; it suits him, because of his young-guy looking. He just looks… very young. And his voice also sounds like a teenage-boy’s voice.)

Whatever, you know what I mean. He’s just ‘one in a million’. Unique.

Personally I think Futoshi is cute. And so sweet. And he’s the first REAL person whom I called so. Oh, and one of my classmate; he’s sweet as well, but we’re not talking about him now so let’s get back on the real subject.

Futoshi’s voice also sounds cute (and sweet, and cool; whatever, I think one word just not enough to describe it ) for me, especially in ‘Toushindai no RABU SONGU’; love this song… His voice also could be so gentle in slow-beat songs (and also in poems). And sounds heavier in some other songs (you KNOW what I mean). You could say his voice is… hot. (Man, did I really say ‘hot’??)

Whatever, people have different perceptions about this. But really, you could clearly hear him taking breath in some songs. That makes, you know… a kind of deep impression (yeah, just write down the point; I think he’s HOT when singing).

Yeah, so this is a little information I’ve got about him:
Name: Futoshi (太志; ふとし)
Date of birth: May 10, 1980
Place of birth: Gifu City
Blood type: O
First met with OKP-STAR in 2000, since that they started their musical activities together. In 2003 they formed ‘Aqua Timez’ (‘Aqua Times’ at that time, later renamed in 2005).
A fan of anime ‘Slam Dunk’.
Formerly seen with a shoulder-length blonde hair. Later had his hair shaved before they released the third single, ‘Shiori’. After that he have a short, black hair. But then he dyed his hair again. Now his hair has a red-ish/orange-ish color.
His father was the one who bought him his first guitar (YESH, he could play guitar). He wrote the song ‘Hachimitsu ~Daddy,Daddy~ (ハチミツ　~Daddy,Daddy~)’ as a tribute for his (now) deceased father.
He has a dog (and the dog’s cute too. It’s small, and has a long, gray-ish white fur. If you check their blog often, you’ll see the dog in some posts).

Damn, I only have a very little information about him. If only I could understand Japanese… T.T Language difference is definitely my biggest problem… It doesn’t stop me from being his (and Aqua Timez; but mostly his) fan, though…

Well, the ULTIMATE reason why I so love Aqua Timez is because of Futoshi’s unique voice. Yeah, honestly I never, ever found anyone whose voice sounds like his. I’ve heard sooo many songs, from both west and Japan; but there’s none of them caught my attention till NOW.

First time I heard his voice is when I bought ‘Bleach’ DVDs; I asked the seller to test the DVD first. And when it played, I heard, “Oreta, awai tsubasa… kimi wa sukoshi-”…

Yeah, when I turned to see it, it was like, “OMG, that’s Kon! What the hell is he doin’ in this opening scene??”

Haha…

It made a deep impression on me. It’s just “Bang!” and then I just couldn’t remove the voice (and the image of Kon’s singing) from my mind. Kinda creepy… I watched the next episode, and the episodes after that, and I started to love the voice.

Some days after that, I heard ‘Sen no Yoru wo Koete’ and that voice just didn’t sound similar to Kon’s anymore (OF COURSE). The voice just… sounds so young (well, I can’t find any matching word to describe it; but you know what I mean).

Then I tried to find the video of this band on YouTube, and found Shiori. (My comment when saw him on ‘Shiori’: OMG, the vocalist is still young!!)

When I searched for this band’s information in Wikipedia, I found out that his name is ‘Futoshi’. (My comment when I read his D.o.B.: OMG, he’s already 27+!!)

I think that’s a natural reaction…

I read the comments for Aqua Timez videos on YouTube and just couldn’t stay calm. Some of the comments are just so rude. And it’s tiring to reply those comments one by one by one by one… There’s someone said that Futoshi is soo short; shorter than 4 ft (?!!!!). The other said that he have a cancer; that’s why he always wears cap. The other said his voice is like a girl. Another said that he’s a monk so that’s why he shaved his hair. And there’re some people said he’s a gay!!!

(And there’re some comments said that Futoshi is hot (MAN, I thought I’m the only one think so). Well, they don’t bother me so I won’t give any complain about them… )

I HAVE to say that Futoshi is NOT that short at all. He’s the shortest among the band’s members, that’s right; but he’s also the youngest, just like the ‘little brother’ of the band (sweet). And he’s NOT below 4 ft (around 120 cm). My height is about 167 cm and I’m SURE his height isn’t so different with me. Most of Asian people is shorter than European/people from other continents, so you can’t just compare him with people from other countries (because it’s different). He’s not short; he’s just small. That’s very different. I think he has an average height; he just looks soo short because you watch him FROM FAR. If you see people from far they’ll look shorter than they should be.

And who care he’s short/small as long as he could sing very well? He’s a singer after all; not a basketball player.

And Futoshi DOESN’T have cancer; he wears the cap because he loves to. Maybe he just feels more comfortable if wearing a cap. Maybe he just WANTS to wear it. Just natural. Personally I think a guy that wearing cap looks cool . And I think wearing cap has become his trademark. AND that’s not our place to mocking/making bad joke on his habit. Some people even have a much stranger habit but there’s no one making rude joke on them…

And his voice DOESN’T sound like a girl’s voice at all. Maybe you should listen to JAPANESE female singer and compare it with Futoshi’s voice. SO DIFFERENT. Again, don’t compare it with singer from your country/other countries because IT’S DIFFERENT. He has a soft voice for man around his age, but definitely NOT similar to girl’s voice.

And if his voice doesn’t sound like that, I DOUBT some of his fans would ever be his fans.

And he’s definitely NOT a monk!!! That’s a very dull joke!!! Absolutely NOT funny. Have you ever heard about monk’s singing????

He dyed his hair blond because he WANTED to do that. He shaved his hair because he WANTED to do that. He grew his hair again because he WANTED to do that. And he dyed it again because he WANTED to do that. He just wanna change his fashion style, like most of people do.

And what the heck with that ‘gay’ thing????? He’s NOT a gay!!!! And this’s not only according to my own opinion. I’ve read somewhere that he has a girlfriend!!!! So there’s no way he’s a gay!!! He just looks so damn cute so people (fatally) misunderstood him like that.

I’m tired of writing this; but it’s worth it. I just can’t stand people talking rude like that, especially if they talking rude about my favorite artists. Well, it’s just my nature, haha…

Note: Now I’m learning guitar. Needless to say, Futoshi is the one who became my major motivation. I mean, he could play guitar; it made me want to learn guitar too .

BIG note: I placed the photos according to their ‘age’. So the first photo shows the oldest hair style, while the last photo shows the current hair style *winks* … but the order of the first four photos may be a lil bit crappy, because I don’t know which photos taken first, etc…

If, let’s say, one of you never know about Aqua Timez and thus also never know about Futoshi; and then you ask me, “Which one the hell is the guy named ‘Futoshi’?”

I’ll just answer, “He’s the guy who never looks the same from the first picture till the last picture.”

You know what I mean; just pay attention to his hair style(s)…

Note again: seems like, after ‘Chiisana Tenohira’, he shaved his hair again till it’s as short as in ‘Shiori’, then he let it grew naturally till now (before ‘Natsu no Kakera’). But I doubt that he’ll let it be black for a long time. Maybe he’ll dye it again before new year (-_-)a …

Whatever, no matter what kind of hair style he has, he still looks cute, LOL…

I think Futoshi is also so stylish. And very confident. If you pay attention to the band’s PVs, photos, and live vids maybe you’ll realize he always wears outfits that have unique patterns, colors, etc. For me it seems like he’s a type of person who doesn’t care about what other people will think of his appearance, as long as he feels comfortable with it. Sometimes he even wears PINK!!! XD XD Most boys I know would rather be caught dead than wear that color!!!

IT ROCKS!!!

Oh, and some of my friends still can’t believe he’s already 27+ (me neither, actually ). For example, I watched ALONES live video with my friend, and:
I: Hey, watch this for a moment.
My friend: What is that?
I: Aqua Timez’s live video. You know them right? The band whose songs I always play in mp3 player.
My friend: Oh.
I: Look! That’s the vocalist.
My friend: (Laughing) My! He’s still young!! I thought he’s already above 20!!
I: (think, “Yeah, and you’ve just got punked,” haha…) He IS above 20. His age is 27.
My friend: (stares at me) You’re lying.
I: I’m not. He’s already 27, swear.
My friend: (still laughing) C’mon. There’s NO way a 27 years old man could look so young like that.
I: But I read on Wikipedia that his year of birth is 1980. That means he’s 27 NOW (it was at the end of 2007).
My friend: (watching Futoshi’s singing) But he just looks like a kid.
I: But he’s 27.
My friend: But he looks-
I: Oh, forget it.

That video made me flashed a smile. Futoshi just couldn’t stand still when singing. He always moving here and there, jumping here and there, rising his hand, etc. But it looks ROCKS. But I think it won’t work in slow-beat songs.

And his voice sounds different when talking.

He has a long breath (if you know what I mean); I get difficulties to follow him singing in fast-beat songs (but not in slow-beat songs; easy, and fun…:P ).

And when I told my other friends to watch ‘Honto wa ne’ PV:
I: Hey, hey, look at this. This’s Aqua Timez’s new PV. Look! Doesn’t he (Futoshi) look cute?
My friend 1: Hmm, yeah, he’s cute.
I: He’s already 27+. Will be 28 this year.
My friend 1: And you think I’ll believe you?
I: What? No, I didn’t lie! He was born on 1980. I read it from websites.
My friend 1: Tch, he fakes his own birthday.
I: (think, “Idiot, why the hell he should so?”) No, hell no way he would do that. He’s indeed already 27+.
My friend 1: 17.
I: 27+.
My friend 1: 17.
I: 27+!
My friend 2: (walking towards the computer) What is it?
I: Nope, it’s just… she (pointing to ‘my friend 1′) doesn’t believe that Futoshi’s already 27+.
My friend 1: Hell there’s no way I would believe that!! He’s 17!!
My friend 2: (watching the PV) He looks like a girl. (I don’t know whether this’s good or not, but she said it with praising tone .)

My, I wonder when he’ll get old… I’m not talking about his age, of course. He’s already 28+ and that’s OLD. No; I’m talking about his appearance, his voice, and his so-called ’style’. He really has a youthful spirit within him XD XD …

Yeah, so that’s it, LOL.
